Experience the Weka Pass Railway

From the flat pains of the Waipara Valley, through ancient limestone formations and into the charming Waikari village, a ride on a scenic 13 kms on Weka Pass Railway really is a journey back in time. If you are lucky enough you will experiment a travel on board of this vintage train from 1909’s. On the 11th of september 1999 the Weka Pass Railway at Waikari has been opened. During this period of time, the two stations Glenmark & Waikari were representing in their buildings, displays and artefacts a huge part of New Zealands’s history.

Before the train was used for mainly freight delivery of livestock, grain, wool, flour, fertilizer even molesworth.
